Performer Profile: Ed Sheeran

Straight up guys, he is the best. My camp friends introduced me to him last Summer and he is really cool. Ed Sheeran is a 21 year old English singer-songwriter whose album + is huge everywhere. He's performing tomorrow and i would give anything to see him. His songs A-Team and Lego House are his most popular I would say, although after about three thousands replays, A Team can get on your nerves. The video for Give Me Love (A song that sounds great accapella) is truly beautiful as is the video Small Bump. Small Bump is quite sad as are many of his songs. Cold Coffee isn't on the album but I would suggest you look it up.

As if he wasn't awesome enough , he is also friends with Rupert Grint, who appears in one of his music videos (Gold star for anyone who knows which, it can be hard to tell with both their red hair).

New Posting Schedule

I'm sorry that I've been very irregular (and completely) about posting, 2013 has turned out to be more hectic for me than I imagined. Starting next wednesday (it seems like a random date but trusted me it's carefully calculated) I will be posting a minimum of two times a week with no more Movestart Mondays or Fitness Fridays. Don't fret, there will be Performer Profiles and Health posts in the future. Thank you and Goodnight to those of you who have found a way to get to bed before 1.

Obsessions: January

New year, New things to obsess over

  •  I found a pair of jeans! Forever21 is the best!
  • Weirdly warm days- seriously, what's going on January?
  • Spin class
  • Skater skirts like my aunts wore when they were kids, I've always loved them but /i now find myself constantly in one, they glide over my hips and highlight my waist like nothing else.
  • JCrew and Jenna Lyons- inspirations for my uniform, easy to put together, always chic
  • Color- anything to brighten up the dark days
  • Wedge sneakers- im looking to add to my pair and they've suddenly popped up everywhere; Steve Madden, Forever21, Charlotte Russe
  • Ganache, yum
  • Orange peppered caramel (a Hannukah gift) with shortbread and chocolate or dibs

Fitness Friday: Snacks

One of the easiest ways to sabotage some great exercise habits is through snacking. Don't get me wrong, snacks are an easy way to keep up energy throughout the day but snacks can easily turn into a meal if you're not careful. Almonds contain a lot of energy but they are also high in calorie. My mom used to get me those 100 calorie packs, and having recently rediscovered them, I'll admit, they're pretty tasty. Dried fruit poses a similar problem as nuts, but they're even tastier which means more dangerous. I often go with tic tacs, which may not be great for me, but they help me focus and are under 100 calories per pack typically. If anyone has any great snack ideas please share, I probably should break my tic tac addiction.

Resolutions

So... that week turned into two; the holidays sneak up on you like that. Today was the last day of celebrating for me, and I can't wait until next year.
Happy New Years everyone! To celebrate I will start off by talking (writing) about resolutions. I'm sure I don't need to catch you up on how ineffective "Be healthy" is as a resolution, so I'm proposing a new way. A couple years ago I was reading a girls blog and she had a really interesting way of making resolutions; I tweaked it for me and have used it for the past couple years. Instead of a couple resolutions to be maintained for the whole year, you have one "thing" per month. Here are the tricks:

Trick 1: Be specific. I'm sure you've heard this one before too. The more specific the goal, the easier it is to keep up.

Trick 2: Not all goals have to be super serious. Not every month has to involve saving the world and becoming a model. Sometimes a month can just involve doing awesome nail designs (thats May for me).

Trick 3: Make sure your goals make you feel good, emotionally, physically, etc. Last February I made sure everyday I complimented someone. It didn't matter if it was a stranger or a friend, I just had to make someone else feel good. Nothing like spreading a little bit of good karma around.

For some examples, here are a couple of my past goals:
Break my bad habits
Moisturize everyday
Read 400 pages a day
Take one picture a day
Sunscreen twice a day
Use my new Sephora Cinderella makeup palette only
